If you were in the Village office yesterday, you would have loud cheers! I think the earth may have moved a little! Back in October, we submitted a proposal to the Washington Department of Commerce, and we just found out that Village has received $8.96 million dollars to expand our Village Housing project!
You probably know that in 2023, we began an initiative to create affordable, accessible housing for individuals with disabilities. There are so many individuals waiting for a place to live in the community. It is so challenging to find homes to rent that are affordable for folks who live on such a limited income. And if the individual needs accessibility modifications, it can be even more challenging.
Hats off to Michele Duly, the Village Housing Project Manager, for a successful proposal and for leading an initiative that is so important for our community.
