It’s the small things. This month, we will be finishing up three accessible, affordable homes for individuals with disabilities as part of our Village Housing Initiative. These homes were purchased in 2024 and have been remodeled to provide long-term housing in Arlington and Mount Vernon. In addition to the big changes like walk-in showers and wide doorways, we know that some of the small details will make the homes more functional and comfortable. In each of the bedrooms, we have installed dimmer switches that will allow residents to control the amount of light. And these aren’t just any dimmer switches! We tested out several to find the one that is easiest to use. Being able to control lighting is one way to manage anxiety and calm behavior. It truly is the little things that make these homes extraordinary.
